Dave Thomas, Chief Scientist/CSO, Kx Systems. He was Co-Founder and past Chairman of Bedarra Research Labs (BRL), creators of the Ivy visual analytics workbench and ACM Distinguished Engineer. Founder and past CEO of Object Technology International (OTI), becoming CEO of IBM OTI Labs after its sale to IBM. Dave is a popular, humorous, albeit opinionated keynote speaker with an impressive breadth of business experience and technical depth. Dave’s passion for fostering innovation and excellence cause him to found YOW! Australia whose mission is to build the next generation of IT leaders by encourage the spread of the latest ideas amongst the Australian development community. Dave is founder and chairman of the YOW! Australia and Lambda Jam conferences, and is a GOTO Conference Fellow.
Craig Smith has been active in the IT industry for over 20 years. Craig has been an Agile practitioner for over 15 years, is an IC Agile Certified Expert in Agile Coaching and a Certified Team Transformation Coach and has worked on a number of high profile technical and business projects across a variety of organisations and industries. Craig regularly conducts Agile training and has presented at a number of Australian and international conferences. He is also a Director on the board of the Agile Alliance, an Agile Editor for InfoQ and co-hosts an Agile podcast called The Agile Revolution.
Director of Developer Relations
For the last twenty years Kris has been helping companies build amazing things online, as a software engineer, business analyst, and team director. She’s worked with and for companies like NineMSN, The Commonwealth Bank, Optus, and Subaru, and Canva. She is a frequent presenter at tech events (including TEDx Melbourne) and is involved in groups supporting women in technology. You can find more on Kris here.
Director of Business Relations
Marlous has 10 years experience in event & project management, business development and customer service in corporate organisations, small businesses, government, charities and Universities in the Netherlands, China and Australia. Her focus has been to foster great relationships and collaborations through developed understanding of diverse needs, creating a win win win situation for all. She is an active community leader with Rotaract, a mentor and youth leadership development facilitator with vision to contribute to life long learning and development, business, coaching, diversity and cross cultural relations. Sponsorship & Contracting Manager
For the last 5 years, Sabine has brought to YOW! her 20 years of experience in business development and international hospitality industry, including Germany, USA, the Middle East and Australia. Amongst many other hats Sabine heads up our sponsorship efforts and contracts the event venues.
Myriam is a Marketing professional with over ten years experience in strategic marketing and communication planning, public and media relations, event management, digital marketing and internal communication. For the last couple of years she has been overseeing all marketing and communications activities for YOW! Australia.
Registration, Volunteer and Social Media Coordinator
Melissa is an efficient and diligent planner with a passion for communications, events and food. For over 6 years, Melissa has been responsible for the recruitment and management of volunteers and attendee registration. She also manages YOW! social media platforms, including @yow_conf on Twitter and is our Brisbane based support for YOW! Nights and workshops throughout the year. Melissa is also a lifestyle blogger on www.melissaloh.com.
A manager with experience in various roles, Lorraine has worked in a number of countries with different working environments. Her excellent organizational and time management skills allowed her to have successfully managed many of our conferences in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth for the last 4 years. Her responsibilities include event logistics, venue management, sponsor liaison, assistance with volunteer coordination and collateral coordination.
Amanda started 5 years ago as a volunteer before officially joining the YOW! team in 2012 as an Event Manager. In that time she has managed our conferences in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Her responsibilities include venue management, event logistics, and collateral coordination.
Personal Assistant and Speaker Liaison
Missy’s Trainer and Communication background in the IT Industry has been a fantastic asset to the YOW! Team for the last several years. Amongst many other tasks including administrative support and Speakers Coordinator, Missy is Dave Thomas’s Personal Assistant.
