Dave Thomas - Founder and Chairman
Dave Thomas, Chief Scientist/CSO, Kx Systems. He was Co-Founder and past Chairman of Bedarra Research Labs (BRL), creators of the Ivy visual analytics workbench and ACM Distinguished Engineer. Founder and past CEO of Object Technology International (OTI), becoming CEO of IBM OTI Labs after its sale to IBM. Dave is a popular, humorous, albeit opinionated keynote speaker with an impressive breadth of business experience and technical depth. Dave’s passion for fostering innovation and excellence cause him to found YOW! Australia whose mission is to build the next generation of IT leaders by encourage the spread of the latest ideas amongst the Australian development community. Dave is founder and chairman of the YOW! Australia and Lambda Jam conferences, and is a GOTO Conference Fellow.
Sabine Wolf - Executive Director
Sabine has been with YOW! since 2010 and has brought her 20 years of experience in business development and international hospitality industry, including Germany, USA, the Middle East and Australia. Amongst many other hats Sabine heads up our sponsorship efforts and contracts the event venues.
Craig Smith - Technical Director
Craig Smith has been active in the IT industry for over 20 years. Craig has been an Agile practitioner for over 15 years, is an IC Agile Certified Expert in Agile Coaching and a Certified Team Transformation Coach and has worked on a number of high profile technical and business projects across a variety of organisations and industries. Craig regularly conducts Agile training and has presented at a number of Australian and international conferences. He is also a Director on the board of the Agile Alliance, an Agile Editor for InfoQ and co-hosts an Agile podcast called The Agile Revolution.
Christopher Biggs - Evangelist (Brisbane)
Christopher is the principal of Accelerando Consulting, a boutique consultancy specialising in IoT, DevOps mentorship and cloud data. He is convenor of the Brisbane Internet of Things interest group, and teaches workshops on Physical Computing. He previously managed a team of over 60 engineers at a leading Brisbane e-commerce company.
Amy Kapernick - Evangelist (Perth)
Amy is a front-end developer, starting her own business and working with other freelancers in the industry. She also spends her time helping out as a co-organiser for Fenders in Perth and other community events. Amy also blogs in her spare time, about tech, the web and life.
Jed Wesley-Smith - Evangelist (Sydney/Melbourne)
Jed is a software philosopher and functional programmer, concerned with architecture, performance, concurrency, scalability and how to build things that compose. Jed has always been involved in the community, co-founding LambdaJam and ScalaSyd, is a co-organiser of FP-Syd and attending many more. Formerly at Atlassian, Jed is Director of Engineering at Simple Machines, and is deeply appreciative of the irony of being called “academic” despite having no formal training whatsoever.

Erwin has been a massive fan of Yow after attending & speaking at his first conference in 2014. He currently combines being the CEO & Co-Founder of Bitgenics.io with being a Developer Evangelist. He is always looking for ways to improve the software development industry and the lives of developers in it. Through building amazing products and exposing more developers to cutting-edge ideas.
Purnima Kamath - Evangelist (Singapore)
Purnima has over 13 years of experience in design and execution of enterprise web applications. She has previously worked for Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Capgemini in various senior roles, providing delivery management and technical leadership across projects. She is a Director on the Women Who Code Singapore network and is passionate about building local developer communities.

Melissa Loh - Registration, Volunteer and Social Media Coordinator
Melissa is an efficient and diligent planner with a passion for communications, events and food. For over 6 years, Melissa has been responsible for the recruitment and management of volunteers and attendee registration. She also manages YOW! social media platforms, including @yow_conf on Twitter and is our Brisbane based support for YOW! Nights and workshops throughout the year. Missy Barredo - Speaker Coordinator
Missy’s Trainer and Communication background in the IT Industry has been a fantastic asset to the YOW! Team for the last several years. Amongst many other tasks including administrative support and Speakers Coordinator, Missy is Dave Thomas’s Personal Assistant.
Dinishika Weerarthna - Web Content Manager
Dini worked as a web developer, software engineer and freelancer for several years before joining with YOW! As part of the YOW! team, her primary responsibilities are managing the website, calendars, Mailchimp attendee lists, sales stat notifications, surveys, and Confengine. Dini also helps with email marketing and sponsorship agreements.
Lorraine Morgan - Melbourne Event Manager
A manager with experience in various roles, Lorraine has worked in a number of countries with different working environments. Her excellent organizational and time management skills allowed her to have successfully managed many of our conferences in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth for the last 4 years. Her responsibilities include event logistics, venue management, sponsor liaison, assistance with volunteer coordination and collateral coordination.
Amanda Woodhouse - Melbourne Event Manager
Amanda started 5 years ago as a volunteer before officially joining the YOW! team in 2012 as an Event Manager. In that time she has managed our conferences in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Her responsibilities include venue management, event logistics, and collateral coordination.
